Here we are going into our half of the lock. The tub up high will drop down as we go up! That is how high we get! It was amazing!!!! We get to do one more like this only we will be coming down!
We got our pictures from the “Boateak” so I wanted to be sure you got to see it. On an island, you drive up in your dinghy and go shopping!
While in Peterborough we were treated to a free concert in the park. Local talent sang all John Denver songs! It was a beautiful evening and a talented group of musicians.
We left Peterborough and traveled 30 miles and 9 locks to lock 32 at
Buckhorn, ON! Today we traveled only 17 miles to the town of
Bobcaygeon, ON. This is the busiest stop on the Trent Severn Waterway
so we wanted to arrive early. It is Friday and the Canadians love their
waterway and use it! This is a great town! Jan (CBAY), Tara
(Seabatical) and I all met at the laundromat to do laundry! Shopping
was next on the agenda. They have a shoe store here with over 25,000
pairs of shoes! Here are some scenes of our trip on this beautiful
waterway! Enjoy!
We are seeing more loons and eagles each day now. We are told it only gets prettier as we go further north! I can’t imagine anything prettier than these scenes! Within these waters we need to be particularly vigilant about staying within the channel markers as there are HUGE granite boulders hiding just under the surface that have taken the life of many props and boat bottoms!
Tonight we are all going out to eat -
Jackets II, CBAY and Seabatical! Ken found a charming restaurant right
on the water where we will enjoy another beautiful evening! Tomorrow
morning we will leave early and try and make it to Lake Simcoe! It is
only 44 miles away but it is Saturday and we have 8 locks to transit
within that 44 miles.
