We docked at the lock wall just above the lock, in Centennial Park. With our Canadian Mooring Passes, we get to dock in these areas for no charge. Some have electricity, which you typically pay $9.85 / night for. Water is also available. That’s the 20BUCK$ over Pat’s shoulder.
This park is especially nice. They even have an RV area. Darn - I didn’t have my camera to get a picture of the plastic palm trees the RV’s have out. Friends Neil & Judy just transitioned from boating to an RV, and I wanted to make sure they keep up with the latest decorations!
The lock here is one of the higher lifts on this system.
I thought I recognized the blue boat in the lock. We also saw it in St Ann. They have two poodles aboard with pink ears, tails, and feet. Isn’t that just WRONG!!??!!
This is also one of the few 1800’s locks that has been replaced. The original three locks now act as a waterfall. The local gardeners even plant flower pots in the old lock.
On Saturday night, they had a local band playing in the park. We took our chairs over and watched. They were actually pretty good.
I got the
dinghy and the boat washed while were were here, and Pat did some
grocery shopping. We also sat down and tried to plan our last six weeks
of this incredible journey, and we decided we better keep moving. We
want to be able to spend some time in the 1,000 Islands and the North
Channel before we head down Lake Michigan. We are leaving Smiths Falls
this morning, and will get some more miles under the keel.
Until Next Time
