Nature Hike, Lake Champlain and Burlington, VT!

Dinner last night at the Dockside Cafe was a full Turkey dinner, complete with mashed potatoes and dressing!  It was so tasty and all for $5.99!  Gary and Sheila that run the cafe are the nicest people and boy can she cook!   Needless to say when we were done it was time for a nature hike to walk off some of the food!  So we headed into the woods!
It is such a pretty setting with the lake to one side and thick trees to the other!  Thought I would share some photos from the walk so you could enjoy it too!

The Dockside cafe is to your left.  No inside seating!  Four tables under the canopy and two on the lawn!  They are busy all the time.

Our destination today was Burlington, VT.  We left Port Henry this morning with the lake  like a mirror.  Beautiful sunshine and absolutely no wind!  We are leaving the Adirondack mountains and entering the Green Mountains!  Pictures can’t really show you how beautiful this lake is but I will try!

Lake Champlain is also very deep!  418 ft. was the deepest we saw!

At the right is Split Rock point!  MN’s Split Rock is much more picturesque but this
was pretty too!

We arrived in Burlington and pulled into the Community Boatyard Marina.  Not many boats here today but over the weekend it was packed for the Jazz festival!

Burlington is where “Ben and Jerry’s” opened its first scoops shop!  1978 was the year and they are still going strong.  Of course we had to walk into town after supper and find the ice cream store!

There is a pedestrian mall in Burlington full of shops, restaurants and these cute painted bears.  This area will be explored in greater detail tomorrow I guarantee you!

Time to head back to the boat and watch the sunset over the mountains.  This is another wonderful city that we look forward to exploring tomorrow.

We grabbed the camera and the conch and headed to the end of the dock for the best view of the sunset!

It was spectacular!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy!  Pat
