They are simply too big to be able to
navigate the corners easily. With a tow boat at both the front and rear,
they can swing them thru the corners easier.
It was fun watching the morning ritual! And of course, Pat & Michele would be out visiting with them. Michele is holding a baby french bulldog above.
On Thursday morning, Dan, an acquaintance of mine from the Cruisers Yacht Owners Club on the internet, stopped by to pick Marc & I up, and take us to a boaters flea market in Ft. Lauderdale.
Dan has lived here for many years, and
actually worked for a company that makes plastic trim parts for boats.
When he picked us up, it began raining cats & dogs! “Not to worry”
he said! “It’s just a shower!”
We ended up going over to his house to wait it out.
Dan has a very nice home on one of the
canals. His 390 Sport Coupe (same boat as ours) is docked 30’ out his
back door! Right in front of it is his 36’ Regal. That explains why his
19’ Wellcraft sits on the trailer in the driveway, and his dinghy is in
the garage! I think he needs to buy out the neighbors so he can have his
entire fleet in the water!
The rain wasn’t showing any signs of letting up, so we stopped at a local waterfront restaurant for lunch.
After lunch, the rain was letting up, so we headed to the flea market. The flea market was HUGE! I would estimate it took an entire square city block! If you can't find your boat parts here, they don't exist!!
Above are Marc & Dan perusing the goods, and Dan making a purchase.
I found a new anchor for the dinghy, and a new dinghy!!!
It was a long walk back to the car with our bags, so we contemplated buying this WW2 motorcycle to haul them!
Thank You so much for your hospitality Dan!
We got an early start leaving Ft Lauderdale Friday AM, and ran the first hour or so in a heavy rain.
The rain
quit, and it turned out to be another beautiful day on the water. Houses
like those above lined the shore of the Intracoastal Waterway all the
way to our destination of Riviera Beach, near Palm Beach.
As we were getting close to the Lake Worth Inlet, which is a cut out to the
Atlantic, and a major departure point for trips to the Bahamas, the
boats and the marinas kept getting bigger!
The 20BUCK$ and the Ark got settled into their slips in Riviera Beach, and Marc & Pat blew a sunset duet on their Conch shells!
Today we go to the Twins vs Marlins
game, thanks to tickets provided by their biggest fans, Jerry &
Linda - Melissa's parents!
Thanks For Following Us!
We’ll post the next adventure soon!
