We made it to Bobby's Fish Camp!

Here we are at Bobby’s Fish Camp, rafted to our traveling buddy boat “CBAY” with Jan and Rusty and also with “Once Around” with Frank and Carrie.
The plan was set last night after dinner.  All Loopers that were heading out today were to get on the VHF radio at 5:30 a.m.  The goal was to get into the lock by 6 a.m.  We had a long travel day ahead of us and with it getting dark earlier, we all wanted to get going.  There were 9 boats that were up and ready to go as we enjoyed a beautiful sunrise.  The plan for us was to buddy with CBAY and hit Bashi Creek to anchor.  Problem was there were lots of other boats that were going to try and anchor there as well so we decided we would get up and burn some gas and go past the anchorage to Bobby’s Fish Camp.   20BUCK$ was just cruising down the TennTom at 28 mph!
Lots of interesting sites along the way.  As you can see by the screen shot of our chart plotter the river was extremely winding.  I think we went past ourselves multiple times.  It was a beautiful day with the temp hitting 80 degrees.  We passed this home made yellow sailboat named “Lollygag” and the USArmy Corp was surveying the river bottom with this unique boat.

98 miles  later we made it to Bobby’s Fish Camp.  For those that don’t know about Bobby’s, there is a gas dock and another 100’ dock.  As you can see that space doesn’t hold many boats especially when one is as big as “Irony”, the blue hulled boat in front. If boaters are willing to raft, all are welcome to stop, raft and PAY!!  The record is 17 boats rafted so I am told.  We have 6 tonight.  20BUCK$ needs gas before we leave tomorrow to make sure we have plenty to get through Mobile Bay so we will have to break apart the raft to get to the gas dock.  This fish camp has been here since 1953.  Today Lora, Bobby’s daughter is running it.  There is an on site restaurant but it is only open on Thursday - Saturday.  Lora was willing to open and cook for us if we could get 8 of the boaters to dine.  Only CBAY and us were interested.   Rusty was very disappointed as the restaurant is supposed to have world class catfish!

Tomorrow we will head further down river to an anchorage!  Then Thursday, the good Lord willing we will hit Mobile Bay!  What an adventure we are experiencing!
